On 18 March 2026, the UK Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) proposed to amend the UK POPs Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 to restrict five entries of substances and amend one entry of substances from 16 December 2026. The deadline for commenting is 13 May 2026.
The six entries of substances have been restricted, or proposed to be restricted in the EU. However, the UK proposed limits for Dechlorane Plus, LC-PFCA-related compounds, medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs) and UV-328 are different from the EU’s.
