GSO is a regional Gulf organization including the national standardization bodies, as members, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Sultanate of Oman, Qatar, Kuwait.
The GSO LV TR gives clear definitions and determines the obligations of the “economic operators” involved in the supply and distribution of products. “economic operators” means the Manufacturer, the Authorized Representative, the Importer or the Distributor.
Manufacturer:
means any natural or legal person who manufacturers electrical equipment or has it designed or manufactured, and markets that electrical equipment under his name or trademark.
Authorized representative:
means any natural or legal person established within the GSO Member States who has received a written mandate from a manufacturer to act on his behalf in relation to specified tasks.
Importer:
means any natural or legal person established within the Member states who places on the market electrical equipment from a third country outside the Member staes.
Distributor:
means any natural or legal person in the supply chain, other than the manufacturer or the importer, who makes a LVE available on the market.
The below table is a summing up of the obligations and responsibilities of all Economic Operators to ensure that only compliant electrical equipment is made available on the market.
Here Intertek is drawing your attention, Economic Operators must fulfil obligations and inform the GSO Notified Body of ALL modifications to the approved products, ANY non-conformities reported by the National Authorities might cause Certificate suspension, withdraw or Product recall if appropriate.
