A new version of mandatory Chinese national standard GB 5296.4-2012 “Instructions for use of products of consumer interests – Instruction for use of textiles and apparel” was officially issued and replaced GB 5296.4-1998 on Dec. 31, 2012. It will go into effect on May 1, 2014.
The new version featured the following changes from the previous version GB 5296.4-1998:
☆ Applicable scope: Addition of the inapplicable product scope.
☆ General terms and definitions: Addition of the definition of “consumer goods”, and changed the definitions of “textile” and “use instruction”.
☆ Primary Updates:
The implementation of this new standard imposes a significant impact on the textile products sold in the China market.
