Denmark Bans 4 Phthalates in Specific Consumer Products

On 26 November 2012, Denmark published an executive Order BEK nr 1113 af 26/11/2012 banning the import and sale of products for indoor use containing phthalates DEHP, DBP, BBP and DIBP.

The Challenge:
According to the order, Demark will ban the certain phthalates in the following articles:
1)   For indoor use;
2)   Articles can come into contact with skin or the mucous membrane

But the order does not apply to:
1)   Medical equipment.
2)   Inner seals for drugs.
3)   Toys.
4)   Infant articles, in the case of DEHP, DBP and BBP.
5)   Cosmetic products.
6)   Materials and articles intended for food contact.
7)   Used goods when first sold complied with Danish requirements.
