According to the global official announcement made by the retail giant Amazon in the fourth quarter of 2018:
Except those exempted products, packages of all products that are sold via the Amazon platform, larger than 18" x 14" x 8" or greater than 20 lbs., must pass the Frustration-Free Packaging Program Tier 1 – FFP or Tier 2 – SIOC test and obtain the compliance report before August 1, 2019.
For packages that are tested and certified between September 17, 2018 and July 31, 2019, Amazon will offer a one-time incentive of $1.0 for each package. For packages that fail to complete the test and certification, and exceed the breakage rate in practice, Amazon will fine $1.99/unit. About Amazon Packaging Test:
Amazon is a member company of ISTA, and all packages of its distribution system adopts two sets of test standards, namely 6-AMAZON.COM-SIOC and 6-AMAZON.COM-OB. The packaging test is divided into three levels, and according to different types of products, there are 8 different test schemes ranging from Class A to Class H:
Level 1: Frustration-Free Packaging (FFP)
Level 2: Ships in Own Container (SIOC)
Level 3: Prep-Free Packaging (PFP)
