Dec 20, 2017, The Member State Committee (MSC) supported the German proposal to additionally identify bisphenol A (BPA) as a substance of very high concern (SVHC) because of its endocrine disrupting properties which cause probable serious effects to the environment. Bisphenol A is already listed in the Candidate List due to its toxic for reproduction properties and due to its endocrine disrupting properties which cause probable serious effects to human health. ECHA will ｕｐｄａｔｅ the current entry for BPA accordingly and add seven additional substances to the Candidate List by mid-January.

The seven additional substances application of the SVHC list are as follows:
1.  1,6,7,8,9,14,15,16,17,17,18,18-Dodecachloropentacyclo[12.2.1.16,9.02,13.05,10]octadeca-7,15-diene (“Dechlorane Plus”TM) [covering any of its individual anti- and syn-isomers or any combination thereof] is used as a non-plasticized flame retardant for adhesives, sealants and adhesives.
2.  Benzo [a] anthracene is usually not intentionally introduced, but as an ingredient or impurity in other substances.
3.  Cadmium nitrate is used in laboratory chemicals to produce glass and ceramics.
4.  Cadmium carbonate used as a pH regulator for water treatment products, laboratory chemicals, cosmetics and personal care products.
5.  Cadmium hydroxide used in laboratory chemicals for the production of electrical and electronic and optical equipment.
6.  Chrysene usually not intentionally generated, but as a component of other substances or impurities.
7.  Reaction products of 1,3,4-thiadiazolidine-2,5-dithione, formaldehyde and 4-heptylphenol, branched and linear (RP-HP) [with ≥0.1% w/w 4-heptylphenol, branched and linear], can be used as lubricants and grease lubricant additives.

According to REACH regulation, If the imported or manufactured volume of each individual SVHC in article is more than 0.1% (w/w) and if it less than 1 tonne per year across all product ranges, then importer or manufacturer require notification to the European Chemical Agency (ECHA).If the imported or manufactured volume of each individual SVHC in article is more than 0.1% (w/w) and if it exceeds 1 tonne per year across all product ranges, then importer or manufacturer require notification to the European Chemical Agency (ECHA).
