The European Commission has proposed a Commission Directive to amend the migration limit of chromium VI in toys intended for use by children under 14 years of age. If approved, the migration limit of chromium VI in scraped-off toy material shall be reduced to 0.053 mg/kg, while the limits for other toy materials shall remain unchanged.
According to the Directive, the entry for chromium VI in point 13 of Part III of Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC shall be replaced as follows:
