The European Commission has published Directive (EU) 2017/898 to amend the bisphenol A (BPA) migration requirement under the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC on 24 May 2017. The migration limit of BPA in toys intended for use by children under 36 months or in other toys intended to be placed in the mouth shall be reduced from 0.1 mg/l to 0.04 mg/l.
This Directive shall enter into force on 13 June 2017.
Member States shall apply the amended provisions from 26 November 2018.
The entry for BPA in Appendix C of Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC shall be replaced by the following:
