The Federal Department of Home Affair (EDI) of Switzerland has published an amendment of the Ordinance on Articles for Human Contact (SR 817.023.41). This regulation has entered into force on 1st May 2017. All products which are regulated under this Ordinance shall comply with the requirements on or after 1st May 2018. The followings are the highlights of the amendments of the Ordinance on Articles for Human Contact:

1. Textile and leather product

Scope of flammability of textile:

Textile materials and leather products which:

1. is directly or indirectly worn on the body, such as garments, wigs, carnival garments;
2. is for the furnishing and lining of rooms, such as bed linen, tablecloths, furniture, carpets, curtains.

2. Jewellery

The external part of jewellery and imitation jewellery, such as hair accessories, bracelets, necklaces, rings, piercings, wristwatches, brooches and cufflinks, shall not have

1. Cadmium content greater than 0.01% by weight of the metal parts; and
2. Lead content greater 0.05% by weight of the metal parts.

3. Articles for infants and toddlers (ages up to 36 months) with plastic and rubber components

Any plastic or rubber components of articles for infants and toddlers shall not contain more than 0.5 mg/kg (0.00005% by weight of component) of any of the following listed PAHs:
