On March 9, 2017, the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) launched its first public consultation of 2017 on two potential Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) (bisphenol A and Perfluorohexane-1-sulphonic acid and its salts). The deadline for commenting is 24 April 2017.

Bisphenol A was included in the SVHC candidate list on January 12, 2017, based on its toxic for reproduction (Article 57c) and it is now additionally recommended for SVHC listing due to its endocrine disrupting properties in accordance with Article 57(f) of REACH for effects in relation to human health. The potential uses for BPA include: Anti-oxidant for processing PVC; Use in epoxy resin hardeners, epoxy adhesives and encapsulants; Manufacture of thermal paper, polycarbonate, epoxy resins, coating materials.
The reasons for proposing Perfluorohexane-1-sulphonic acid and its salts(PFHxS) are due to its vPvB properties. PFHxS is a known impurity during production of Heptadecafluorooctane-1-sulphonic acid (PFOS) and it could be used as an alternative for PFOS. The potential uses for PFHxS include: Component of fire-fighting foam; Surfactants; Manufacture of fluoropolymers; Water and stain protective coatings for carpets, paper and textiles.
