June 17th, 2013, DOE published the energy conservation standards for microwave ovens. These standards will go into effect as of June 17th, 2016.

Microwave ovens manufactured and distributed in commerce, on or after June 17, 2016 must meet the energy conservation standards shown in the table below, as specified in the Code of Federal Regulations, 10 CFR 430.32(j)(3). Related products must be tested in accordance with the specified test method and registered before they are put into the market.
