The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has published Direct Final Rule to revise the federal safety standard for infant bath seats (16 CFR 1215). The Direct Final Rule shall be effective on 22 December 2019, unless significant adverse comment is received by 21 October 2019.

From 22 December 2019, infant bath seats shall comply with all applicable provisions of ASTM F1967-19 Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Bath Seats.

Note:

According to ASTM F1967-19, an infant bath seat is an article that is used in a bath tub, sink, or similar bathing enclosure and that provides support, at a minimum, to the front and back of a seated infant during bathing by a caregiver. Products commonly referred to as bath rings also are included in the scope of this specification. This does not include products that are designed or intended to retain water for bathing.
