On Nov 02, 2022, American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) approved a revised version of ASTM F2906 and published ASTM F2906-22 in November 2022.

This ASTM standard for bedside sleepers includes performance requirements, test methods, and marking requirements to promote safe use of bedside sleepers.

This ASTM standard for bedside sleepers covers products intended to provide sleeping space for an infant up to approximately 5 months of age (or when child begins to push up on hands and knees). These products are intended to be secured to the side of an adult bed for the purpose of having a

baby sleep in close proximity to an adult.

Significant changes to the standard from ASTM F2906–13(R 2019) to ASTM F2906–22 are described below.

1. Revise Clause 5.6 to defined clearly that the lowered portion of the side rail designed to be adjacent to the adult bed shall meet the requirements of the height range. Any fixed portion or component of the rail that is adjacent to the adult bed is exempt from this requirement.. 
2. Revise Clause 8.3.4 to add a short sentence "the lowered portion of " before the final warning “the top rail must be no higher than the adult bed mattress”. 
3. Make editorial revisions to some other terms without technical content changes.
