On August 11, 2022. The U.S. Congress has passed the bill H.R. 5313 Reese’s Law. It is about the consumer product safety standard for the ingestion hazard of button or coin batteries.
Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, CPSC will promulge a consumer product safety standard for button or coin batteries, which include:
The warning statement shall be placed on the packaging, instruction literature and beside the battery compartment of the product.
Not later than 180 days of the enactment of this Act, any button/coin battery or button/coin battery included separately with a consumer product shall be packed with “poison prevention package” in according to 16 CFR 1700.15.
Toy products shall be exempted from the above requirements, as toys are regulated under 16 CFR 1250 and it has the related requirements.
