Dear Customer,

I wish to bring to your attention a matter concerning a the very recent Economic Operator market notice issued by the GCC GSO dated 11 March 2020 which relates to specific products accessing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The notice impacts Water Heaters currently certified for Gulf Marking under IEC 60335-2-21, and as per the notice now requires conformity to SASO 1858 standard so to comply with market requirements and thus meet enforcement dates set out in 2020.

1. This requirement will be implemented through G mark procedures if the KSA is one of the target countries in the certificate,
2. New G Mark certificate: it is mandatory to use the GSO 1858 for all new certificates to be issued after the 30 June 2020. All shipments after 31 August 2020 will not be released by KSA Customs unless a full compliance with SASO requirements is ensured.
3. Existing G Mark certificate: Before 15 July 2020, all existing G Mark certificates for the water heaters shall be updated with GSO 1858 for certificates having KSA as one of the target countries.
4. If the Economic Operator (including but not limited to Manufacturer and Importer) does not comply with the requirement in point 3, the certificate will be suspended, or the target countries will be updated in the certificate by removing the KSA until the manufacturer comply with GSO 1858.
