Amazon is keeping improving and perfecting its packaging policy. As we know, the Amazon Packaging and Prep Requirements note that: All FBA inbound items should be prepared according to applicable packaging and prep types, so as to ensure that the inbound shipments comply with Amazon’s specific packaging requirements. If the seller sends a shipment or an item that does not meet the FBA inbound requirements to an Amazon fulfillment center, Amazon reserves the right to refuse, discard, return, or receive it as a defective item and then ask the seller to remove it, with the appropriate follow-up responsibility assumed by the seller.

The new Amazon packaging policy has gone into effect from this August. Amazon requires and supports related FBA inbound items to pass the packaging test of ISTA.

Are you aware of the most ｕｐｄａｔｅd packaging requirements newly released in August 2019? Please find some highlighted ｕｐｄａｔｅs as below:

1.New minimum packaging dimension for Tier1/ 2

2. Additional guideline for Objective Failure Objective Fail

• Visible item damage
• Visible item breakage
• Loss of function (doesn’t work)
• Loss of use (cracked cap)
• Collectible items with any outer package wear
• Seal integrity is not intact
• Tamper evident application is compromised
• Tertiary packaging is split, with torn edges, tape failure

3. HAZMAT and Fragile item

• Tier 3 PFP certification is allowed for HAZMAT items
• Electronics are not in the list of HAZMAT
• Box-Utilization score must be greater than 30% and 50% for fragile and non-fragile products, respectively across Tier 1 certification, but not Tier 2
• Fragile item including products with 50% or greater of their total pieces containing fragile material

According to the announcement of last month in July from Amazon, Amazon extends the launch of the FFP/SIOC chargeback until September 3 for NA, and the Amazon EU hard launch for EU is still October 1st this year.
