Dear Customer,

SASO have decided to withdraw and cancel the Announcement (Number 78/300/20 dated 11/03/2020) for Water Heaters and replace it with the following:

• Electric Storage Water Heaters shall be certified with the Gulf Mark and affixed with the GCTS to all product when placed onto the KSA market.
• The economic operator can select one of the following conformity standards in current valid edition for the Gulf Type Examination Certificate of the product. That being:
  IEC 60335-2-21 in conjunction with GSO harmonized standards for safety and EMC as define on the harmonized standards platform.
  or
  GSO 1858 in conjunction with GSO 1859 and EMC as define on the harmonized standards platform.

Note: This option of choice relates to products destined for the KSA market only.

All G-Mark certificates that have been updated by additional evaluation of GSO 1858 already will continue to be considered as valid.

Certificates that have been suspended or revised by removing KSA from the scope of targeted countries due to lack of additional evaluation of GSO 1858 shall be reinstated by the Notified Bodies within 30 days following this announcement without the need for a new application by the manufacturer.

This announcement supersedes all previous notices issued on this subject, specifically announcements issued by the GSO dated on 11 March 2020 and 17 July 2020 respectively.
