On 9 March 2021, The State Administration for Market Regulation of China and Standardization Administration of China published a voluntary standard GB/T 39600-2021 Formaldehyde Emission Grading for Wood-Based Panel and Finishing Products. The standard shall become effective by 1 October 2021.

The standard applies to formaldehyde emission grading for fiberboard, particleboard, plywood, joinery board, reconstituted decorative lumber, laminated veneer lumber, glued laminated timber, wood-based panels, wood floor, wall paneling, wood door and other wood-based panels and finishing products for indoor use.
Formaldehyde emission grading for wood-based panel and finishing products is divided into three levels as below :
