Brazil - Approved Amendment on Quality Technical Regulation for toys to Suspend the Deadline
The National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO) has published Ordinance no. 598/2018 to amend Quality Technical Regulation for Toys (Ordinance No. 563/2016). It shall enter in force immediately. Articles 19, 20, 21 and 22 regarding the deadline shall be suspended. There is no information about the new deadline in this Ordinance. The following deadline mentioned in the Articles shall be suspended:

Toys that are manufactured or imported into the domestic market shall comply with the provisions of this Ordinance.

The vendors holding the certification shall manufacture or import toys that comply with the provisions of this Ordinance.

|
Toys that are traded in the domestic market shall comply with the provisions of this Ordinance.

29 December 2019
|
The maximum amount of formamide allowed in toys containing expanded ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) is 0.5% in mass of the polymer.

29 June 2020
|
The facilities shall distribute and/or trade toys that comply with the provisions of this Ordinance in the domestic market.
