EU Approved Amendment on Annex II to Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC on Chromium VI
On 17 May 2018, the European Commission has published Commission Directive (EU) 2018/725 to amend Annex II to Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC as regard the migration limit of chromium VI in toys intended for use by children under 14 years of age. The migration limit of chromium VI in scraped-off toy material shall be reduce to 0.053 mg/kg, while the limits for other toy materials shall remain unchanged. Member States shall apply the amended provisions from 18 November 2019.
According to the Directive, the entry for chromium VI in point 13 of Part III of Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC shall be replaced as follows:
