MERCOSUR - Proposed Amendments to Technical Regulation on Labelling of Textile Products
The MERCOSUR (Common Southern Market) has published Draft Resolution no. 03/17 to amend the Resolution GMC 33/07 Technical Regulation on Labelling of Textile Products to ensure a more clear labelling information can be delivery to the customers. Here are the highlights :

Rewording the requirement of pure textile product for better clarity.

Proposed change to :
|
A textile product containing no more than 2% by weight of extraneous fibers may also be treated as exclusively composed of the same fiber, provided this quantity is justified as being technically unavoidable in good manufacturing practice and is not added as a matter of routine.

A textile product which has undergo a carding process may also be treated as exclusively composed of the same fiber if it contains no more than 5% by weight of extraneous fibers, provided this quantity is justified as being technically unavoidable in good manufacturing practice and is not added as a matter of routine.

Change the disclosure requirement of "other fiber"or "other fibers" from 10% to 15%

Proposing that there is no more optional for labelling "COMPOSICION NO DETERMINADA" (Means: Composition not determined) or "FIBRAS DIVERSAS" (Means: Mixed fibers) when the textile composition is difficult to determine.
