ECHA: News about SVHC Candidate List Update in June 2017
 

The ECHA will additionally identify BPA as an endocrine disruptor, and include PFHxS in the SVHC Candidate List for authorisation. The list shall be finalized by the end of June 2017.

A press release of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) for authorisation will be updated by the end of June 2017. The update will include adding the following substances to the list:

  1. Bisphenol A (BPA) (CAS 80-05-7)
    BPA was added to the Candidate List in January 2017 as a "toxic for reproduction" substance. It will be additionally identified as an endocrine disruptor.
  2. Perfluorohexane-1-sulphonic acid and its salt (PFHxS)
    PFHxS will be on the Candidate List due to their very persistant and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) properties.
