WTO Announced the EU Lays Down the Lead Migration Limits for Toys
On 18th Aug 2016, World Trade Organization (WTO) announced the European Union will lay down the lead migration limits requirement for toys or components of toys.
According to the WTO file number 16-4443, the limits of Toys Safety Directive were based on the recommendations of the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) made in the 2008 report. The RIVM recommendations were based on the conclusion that exposure of children to elements such as lead may not exceed a certain level, called ‘tolerable daily intake’.
This estimated effective date is the 1st quarter of 2017, and estimated implementation date is the 3rd quarter of 2018.
