New Zealand – Approves to Adopt the Updated Standard AS-NZ S 1249: 2014 for Children’s Nightwear and Limited Daywear Garments
On 17 March 2016, the New Zealand Government published Gazette no. 24, declaring the current Product Safety Standards (Children’s Nightwear and Limited Daywear Having Reduced Fire Hazard) Regulations 2008 will be replaced by the Product Safety Standards (Children’s Nightwear and Limited Daywear Having Reduced Fire Hazard) Regulations 2016. It comes into force on 18 April 2016 with a 12-month transition period for industry to comply.
Under the new regulation 2016, the recently updated standard AS/NZS 1249 : 2014 will be adopted as mandatory standard to revoke the current standard of AS/NZ 1249: 2003 Children’s Nightwear and Limited Daywear Having Reduced Fire Hazard, as amended by Amendment A: 2008.

a new cautionary label has been introduced
-
a new test for the hazard of molten material has been developed and included in Category 1
-

Rationales are now provided in the new Appendix C
-
