The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China issued the standard QB/T 1002-2015 Leather Shoes which came into effect on March 1st, 2016.

This new standard supersedes QB/T 1002-2005. It includes the following significant technical changes with respect to QB/T 1002-2005.

◆ Shoes for infant and children are out of the scope.

Standard specifies that it is applicable to the shoes with uppers made of natural leather, synthetic material or their blends; not applicable to the shoes for the safety protection or functional use. The shoes for infants and children are out of the scope.

◆ The definition for primary site and secondary site added

• Primary site: Outward side and fore part of upper.
• Secondary site: Inward side and back part of upper.

◆ Six new test items added

1. Odor: ≤3 grade.
2. Abrasion resistance for top piece (assembly heel):
   ?≥0.9g/cm3: abrasion≤200mm3; ?＜0.9g/cm3: abrasion≤150mg.
3. The minimum length and flexing resistance of shanks: comply with GB 28011.
4. Color fastness to rubbing of lining and insock:
   Normally material: wet rubbing: ≥3 grade.
   Nubuck and sueded leather: wet rubbing: ≥2 grade. 
5. AZO: textile: ≤20mg/kg; leather≤30mg/kg.
6. Formaldehyde: Directly contact to skin≤75mg/kg; without directly contact to skin ≤300mg/kg.

◆ Eight items modified

1. Appearance: requirement that the shoes shall indicate the China shoes size in the appearance ｄｅｌｅｔｅd.
2. Exemption clause added and test requirement for shoes flexing resistance modified:
   Exemption condition: The heel height ＞70mm or the flexing angle ＜ 45°after testing against GB/T 20991.
   The cut length: high grade≤10.0mm (former: 12.0mm); pass grade≤20.0mm (former: 30.0mm).
3. Test method and requirement for heel hardness modified:
   Foam material (Shore C): ≥60 when heel height≤50mm; ≥75 when heel height＞50mm;
   Non-foam material (Shore A): ≥55 when heel height≤50mm; ≥70 when heel height＞50mm;
4. Requirement for heel attachment modified
   High grade≥1000N (former: 700N); pass grade≥700N (former: 500N).
5. Labeling requirement revised to comply with  QB/T 2673.
6. Testing rules revised
7. Testing method of discoloration added in the annex A.
8. The term and implementation principles of after-sale service revised.
