Vietnam Publishes A New Requirement of Formaldehyde and Azo Dyes in Textile Products
On 7 September, 2015, the Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has published a new draft circular on permitted limits of contents of formaldehyde and aromatic amines released from azo dyes in textile products. If approved, the new circular shall replace circular no. 32/2009/TT-BCT on 5 November 2009 and be effective from February 2016.
This new draft circular states the same permitted limits of formaldehyde and azo dye contents in textile products, but amends the test methods and specifies the sampling method, refers to ｕｐｄａｔｅd international test method standards.
Some typical examples of textile product fall within the scope of restriction, like all kinds of clothing, hats, towels, gloves, beddings, etc. All textile products that are imported, distributed and marketed in Vietnam are required to provide a certificate issued by an accredited testing laboratory to ensure conformity in accordance to the regulation.
Amendments
This new draft keeps the same content limits for the regulated chemicals and list of restricted aromatic amines as circular no. 32/2009/TT-BCT, but the test methods are ｕｐｄａｔｅd as follows:
