On 10 February 2026, the UK Government published a reminder on the European Commission Notice C/2025/946 on the application of the EU PPWR Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaged products placed on the market of the UK Northern Ireland (UK-NI).

According to the European Commission Notice C/2025/946, the reference to Directive 94/62/EC in Point 25 of Annex 2 to the Windsor Framework (Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland) shall be read as referring to the EU PPWR Regulation (EU) 2025/40, according to Article 13(3) of the Windsor Framework.

Intertek recommends companies of consumer products and packaging to the EU and the UK-NI, prepare soon the test reports on e.g., heavy metals (as well as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) aand fluorine (F) content if applicable), declaration of conformity (DoC) and technical documentation, and register at the the EU Member States’ national registers where the consumer products and packaging are placed and where the registers are available.
