On 10 December 2025, the European Standard EN 17826:2025 on chemical hazards of child care articles is published. The standard will be given the status of a national standard and the conflicting national standards will be withdrawn at the latest by June 2026 |

On 10 December 2025, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) published the European Standard EN 17826:2025, Child care articles - Chemical hazards - Requirements.
The standard EN 17826:2025 controls 7 categories of chemical substances in 14 kinds of child care articles: migration of 19 elements, 3 flame retardants (TCEP, TCPP, TDCP) contents, aniline, 129 allergenic fragrances content, formaldehyde content, 7 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) content, and formamide content and release.

- Bath tubs and bathing aids
- Reclined cradles and infant swings
- Chair mounted seats
- Table mounted chairs

- Children's harnesses and reins
- Baby walking frames
- Changing units
The standard is not intended to apply to other furniture for children, textiles for children, highchairs, learning towers, soothers, soother holders, drinking equipment, cutlery and feeding utensils.
The new standard EN 17826:2025 will be given the status of a national standard and the conflicting national standards will be withdrawn at the latest by June 2026.
