On 27 September 2024, the European Commission published Regulation (EU) 2024/2570, to amend the EU POPs Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 to restrict the substance methoxychlor (CAS No. 72-43-5, etc.). The methoxychlor limit in substances, mixtures and articles is 0.01 mg/kg (0.000001%). |

On 27 September 2024, the European Commission approved and published Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/2570, to amend the EU POPs Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 to restrict the substance methoxychlor (CAS No. 72-43-5, etc.). The restriction of methoxychlor shall apply from 17 October 2024.
The amendment prohibits the manufacturing, use and placing on the market of substances, mixtures and articles containing methoxychlor in a concentration above 0.01 mg/kg (0.000001%) by weight.
The methoxychlor is a pesticide. In May 2023, the substance methoxychlor was listed in Annex A to the UN Stockholm Convention, and it was decided that the production and use of the substance shall be eliminated globally.
