On June 1, 2024, the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) approved a revised version of ASTM F3084 and published ASTM F3084-24 in July 2024.
This ASTM standard covers performance requirements and test methods of rockers. It also provides requirements for labeling and instructional literature to promote safe use of the rockers by an occupant and a caregiver.
Compared to the previous version, the most significant change in ASTM F3084-24 is additional assessment of Tethered Strap or Cord Entrapment or Entanglement for Non-occupants. This assessment includes tethered strap(s) or cord(s), alone or in conjunction with the product.
Significant changes to the standard from ASTM F3084-23 to ASTM F3084–24 are described below.
- Add definition clause 3.2: cord,clause 3.1.18: strap,clause 3.1.19: tethered strap and/or cord and discussion clauses 3.1.18.1,3.1.19.1,3.1.19.2,3.1.19.3;
- Add requirement clause 6.9: Tethered strap or cord entrapment or entanglement for non-occupants and test methods clause 7.12, Fig. 6, Fig. 7, Fig.16 & Fig. X1.1;
