U.S. – March 2024 California Proposition 65 – 60-Day Notices Analysis
In March 2024, there were 443 60-day notices for violation of Prop 65, of which 58% of the notices served were for the category of Lead, 18% of notices were served for the presence of Phthalates, 24% of the notices were for the presence of other chemicals.
Among the reported notices, bags and cases had 22 notices for the presence of phthalates. Externally decorated glass and ceramics had 35 notices for Lead and 1 notice for Phthalates. Footwear had 1 notice for the presence of Phthalate, 2 notices for the presence of Lead and 4 notices for the presence of Other chemicals (such as Hexavalent Chromium and Bisphenol A). There were 11 notices issued for the presence of Phthalates in the category of packaging.
The beauty and personal care category had 52 notices for the presence of other chemicals such as Titanium Dioxide and Diethanolamine. There was 1 notice issued for the presence of lead in Aztec Indian healing clay.
A total of 8 notices were issued for presence of Bisphenol A (BPA) in apparel, device accessories, medical accessories and footwear. There were 3 notices issued for the presence of Hexavalent Chromium in footwear and gloves made of leather.
There were 12 notices served for the presence of Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) in apparel, bathroom accessories and canopy umbrellas. There was 1 notice issued for the presence of Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) in artificial turf.
