On March 12, 2024 ,The National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China (NHC) released the new standard 4806.15-2024 National Food Safety Standard Adhesives for Food Contact Materials and Articles. The effective date of the standard is February 8, 2025. 

GB 4806.15-2024 is the first adhesive standards for food contact materials and articles in China. The main contents of the standard are as follows:

1. Scope: Applicable for adhesives for food contact materials and articles.

2. Terminology and Definitions:
    Adhesives for food contact materials and articles: materials that create adhesion by physical or chemical mode in food contact materials and articles, directly or indirectly in contact with food

3. Classification: According to whether it is in direct contact with food, it is divided into adhesives for direct contact with food and adhesives for indirect contact with food.

4. Basic requirements：Comply with GB 4806.1; Safety risk control requirements for adhesive production companies; Safety risk control requirements for adhesives using companies.

5.Technical requirement：

1. Basic raw materials: The basic raw materials of adhesives used in direct contact with food shall meet the requirements of Appendix A and relevant announcements; The basic raw materials of adhesives used in indirect contact with food shall meet the requirements of Appendix A and Appendix B and the relevant announcement requirements.

   Additives: Adhesive additives for food contact materials and articles shall meet the requirements of GB 9685 and relevant announcements.
   Additives used in adhesives for direct contact with food may also be used in adhesives for indirect contact with food.

2. Sensory and physical and chemical indicators：See below table.

   *：Only suitable for adhesives containing aromatic isocyanates etc.that may produce aromatic primary amines.

3. Other physical and chemical indicators： Adhesives for food contact materials and articles shall comply with the physical and chemical indicators such as Specific Migration Limit (SML), Specific Total Migration Limit [SML(T)], Maximum Residue (QM) of basic raw materials in Appendix A, Appendix B and relevant announcements. Provisions. Adhesives for food contact materials and articles shall comply with the SML, SML(T), QM and other physical and chemical indicators of additives specified in GB 9685 and relevant announcements.

6.Label ：

1. Comply with GB 4806.1.
2.  Adhesive products shall show the product category on the label (adhesives for direct contact with food, adhesives for indirect contact with food).

7.Appendix：Allowable basic raw materials and usage requirements for adhesives for direct and  indirect contact with food.
