The implementation of the List of Products for Phase Two (A) below, under the technical regulation on conformity scheme (Reference: DGSM-PL-1A-23) issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) – Directorate General for Standards and Metrology (DGSM), came into effect on 8^th December 2023.

• Electrical Clothes Washing Machines (OS 1651:2022)
• Water Heaters (OS 1652:2022)
• Refrigerators, Refrigerator-Freezers and Freezers (OS 1653:2022)

Further to DGSM announcement regarding the enforcement phases for the new scope of products included in DGSM Energy Efficiency (EE) labeling program, please find the detailed enforcement phases shared by DGSM as follows:

• Phase 1: 8^th December 2023 to 31^st March 2024
  
  • Registration evidence will be issued by DGSM Notified Body (hereinafter as NB) manually using a standard template*
  • No EE Label issuance*

    * Once the official platform is launched, the registration evidence and EE Label shall be generated by the official platform, and it’s strongly recommended to adhere EE label on product(s) and packaging according to the requirements of applicable OS standard once Manufacturer receives it from NB

• Phase 2: 1^st April 2024 to 7^th June 2024
  
  • Once the official platform is launched, the registration evidence and EE Label shall be generated by the official platform
  • Strongly recommended to adhere EE label on product(s) and packaging according to the requirements of applicable OS standard once Manufacturer receives it from NB
• Phase 3: 8^th June 2024 onward
  
  • Registration evidence shall be generated by the official platform
  • EE label on product(s) and packaging according to the requirements of applicable OS standard is mandatory
• Registration Validity: 2 Years
• Registration Fees: SAR 600/Label/Year, Total fees: SAR 1200

Manufacturer Responsibilities

• The manufacturer shall apply to a single DGSM Notified Body by of his choice for verification and registration of their products and obtain the permit to use the Omani energy efficiency labelling.
• The manufacturer takes responsibility to adhere the registered Energy Efficiency label generated by the official platform on product(s) and packaging according to the requirements of applicable OS standard, or in cooperation with local traders in Oman if a consignment of the product(s) arrived in Oman market, once receiving the deliverables from the DGSM Notified Body.
• From 8^th June 2024 onward, EE label on product(s) and packaging according to the requirements of applicable OS standard will be mandatory.
