Recently, the European Union updated the harmonized standards requirements for PPE Regulation EU 2016/425, including changes to the new EN ISO standards for protective goggles and ski goggles. During the transition period until 11 November 2024, both harmonized standards for protective goggles and ski goggles can be used, as follows:
Protective goggles:
- EN 166:2001 (Withdrawn on 11 November 2024)
- EN ISO 16321-1:2022
Ski goggles:
- EN 174:2001 (Withdrawn on 11 November 2024)
- EN ISO 18527-1:2022
Transition period:
After 11 November 2024, the EN 166:2001 harmonized standard for protective goggles will be formally replaced by EN ISO 16321-1:2022, and the EN 174:2001 harmonized standard for ski goggles will be formally replaced by EN ISO 18527-1:2022.
