In September 2020, the Federal Office for the Environment of Switzerland has approved to amend the Chemical Risk Reduction Ordinance (SR 814.81, ORRChem) by adding prohibition of the chemicals listed in Annex XIV of the EU’s REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. The amendment has already entered into force on 1 November 2020.

The following substances shall be added to Annex 1.17 of SR 814.81. It shall be prohibited to place on the market for use of the substances or preparations containing such substances, or to use them on a professional or commercial basis after the respective transition period ends.

* The transition period ends on 2 July 2026 for the following uses:

1. Manufacture of a replacement part for the repair of an article if the substance in question is or has been used in the manufacture of that article and it does not function properly without this replacement part;
2. Repair of an article if the substance in question is or has been used in the manufacture of that article and it can only be repaired using the substance in question.
