United Kingdom (Scotland) made The Environmental Protection (Single-use Plastic Products) (Scotland) Regulations 2021
On November 12, 2021. The Scottish Ministers has made the Regulations to prohibit the Single-use plastic products and single-use expanded polystyrene products. The following is the highlight of the Regulations:
A person manufactures or supplies the following products would commit an offence
- single-use expanded polystyrene beverage containers,
- single-use expanded polystyrene beverage cups,
- single-use expanded polystyrene food containers,
- single-use plastic beverage stirrers,
- single-use plastic cutlery,
- single-use plastic plates
A person supplies the following products would commit an offence
- single-use plastic balloon sticks (except for professional uses)
- single-use plastic straws (except for medical or pharmacy purposes; school, care home, personal care or support services; Single-use plastic straws as packaging and catering establishment with conditions).
The Regulations will come into force on 1 June 2022.
