The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has published Direct Final Rule to revise the federal safety standard for hand-held infant carriers (16 CFR 1225). The Direct Final Rule shall be effective on 3 August 2020, unless significant adverse comment is received by 19 June 2020.
As stipulated in the Direct Final Rule, hand-held infant carriers shall comply with all applicable provisions of ASTM F2050-19 Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Hand-Held Infant Carriers.
Note:
According to ASTM F2050-19, “hand-held infant carrier” means a freestanding, rigid-sided or semi-rigid-sided product intended to carry an occupant whose torso is completely supported by the product to facilitate transportation by a caregiver by means of hand-holds or handles.
