Since mid of July till recently, Intertek’s laboratories in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Guangzhou of China have obtained the Saudi Arabia SASO energy efficiency accreditation one after the other, which covers all the products under control of the Saudi Arabia energy labeling scheme including refrigerators / freezers, washing machine and air conditioners, thus becoming the third party testing and certification body that can provide the widest scope and most complete services for Saudi testing and certification in China.

Saudi Arabia energy labeling scheme is an obligatory certification enforced by SASO (Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization. As the only international standard organization in Saudi Arabian, SASO develops and implements all the regulation requirements and standards in the country. In 2013, SASO published ｕｐｄａｔｅd energy efficiency standard for air conditioning products, raised MEPS star requirement, and carried out a series of market survellance activities; and in 2014,  to further strengthen implementation of the energy efficiency labelling program, SASO published ｕｐｄａｔｅd standards and measures for refrigerators and washing machine as well. Recently SASO restarted laboratory approval procedure, with an aim to enhance the implementation of the new standards, keep away the unqualified testing laboratory, monitor the quality of energy performance report, and further improve the technical requirement of energy efficiency at the source.
