The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision announced the results of its quality supervision and inspection of sportswear in Shanghai on Sep. 21, 2012. This spot check inspected 41 batches of sample and 3 of them were found to be unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to "GB 18401National general safety technical code for textile products", ”GB 5296.4 Instructions for use of products of consumer interest Instructions for use of textiles and apparel”, "FZ/T 01053 Textile-Identification of fiber content”, "GB/T 22849 Knitted T-shirt”, "GB/T 22853 Knitted sportswear”, "GB/T 22854 Knitted school uniform”, "GB/T 23328 Woven garment for students”, "FZ/T 73020 Knitted sportswear”, “FZ/T 81003 Children’s clothing and student’s wear”, "FZ/T 81007 Casual wear”, etc. Items tested on these products included fiber content, formaldehyde content, pH value, colorfastness to dry rubbing, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to perspiration, banned AZO dyestuff, colorfastness to washing, colorfastness to light-perspiration, cross Staining.

The primary reason for failure was fiber content.
