Safety shoes are a kind of footwear product with high technology content and high added value. In China nowadays, many large footwear manufacturers begin to turn to the safety shoes industry which used to be dominated by the developed countries. However, according to the statistics published on the official websites of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the EU non-food commodities rapid alarm system, total 31 batches of shoes exported from China had been reported and recalled in the first quarter, almost two times more than the same period of last year. Therefore, it's very important to learn the quality and technical requirements and the relative safety shoes regulations of the Europe and the US.
The EU Technical Committee recently revised the ISO 20344/5:2004 again, and the new version of BS EN 12568: 2010 became effective on July 1st, 2010. Mr. Andy Huang, IAU, has over 16 years' experience in the production and testing of textile and footwear and provided services for over 1000 clients. He is an expert in the textile, footwear and safety shoes product safety standards and inspection technology of the US, Europe, Japan and Australia, and has attended large textile, footwear and safety shoes technology exchange meetings and academic researches in Hong Kong and the Britain. Mr. Huang was one of the writers to complete the Chinese National Safety Shoes standard (GB/T20991-2007), and published many theses in national trade magazines, such as Study on Management of Testing Industry and Localization of Business Model, The Globalization of Foot Protection Equipment Testing Standards – Footwear Standards, Study on the Common Failures in European Footwear Testing, and The Study on the Anti Static Electricity Performance of Safety Shoes, etc. In 2009, Mr. Huang published the book The Collection of Footwear and PPE Testing Methods, which was the first authoritative book the kind.
